From the Caribbean islands, most commonly Barbados and Curacao, this small ornamental tree has wispy, drooping branches that fall lazily like a weeping willow tree. Bonsai cherry trees: Watering, Humidity, Soil and Fertilizer

What I like most about these dwarf cherry trees is that they grow well in both direct and indirect sunlight. This plant does need protection from hot mid-day sun. Hot direct sunlight coming through a window can burn the leaves. When deciding on which temperature is best to grow your bonsai cherry trees in, remember each variety has different needs and that they are sub tropical plants. Be sure to read the care instructions of each individual plant, generally if your the leaves on the tree are starting to wilt if is most likely getting too much sun and is over heating.

Like most indoor bonsai trees, you should not over water bonsai cherry trees, which can cause root problems and destroy your tree. You should test the soil with your finger or a water meter to feel how dry the soil is. If you find that the soil is dry about a half an inch below the surface then it probably needs water. During the summer months when the weather is hot and dry the tree will need more water than normally, this of course is reversed in the winter. Also, when your cherry tree is blossoming, don’t get the flowers wet if you are spraying them, this can damage the flowers and invite certain diseases.
To help keep the humidity levels up it is recommended you use a humidity water tray. Put a little water into the tray and let the water evaporate up through the plant.

During the growing season which in most cases will be from spring to fall you should feed bonsai cherry trees with a water soluble fertilizer every two weeks, preferably with organic bonsai tree liquid fertilizer. If you do use chemical fertilizer then I would cut this down or dilute it to at least half strength. This should be done before the tree flowers.
