Ficus bonsai tree

This miniature tree is also called a green island ficus. The leaves are quite unique in that they are oval to roundish and a shiny dark green. This is where it gets the emerald name of the plant. This ficus tree forms rosettes at the end of it’s branches if kept trimmed.

If does grow branches and fruit well and easily develops aerial roots when kept humid, which makes a striking affect. It is different than other ficus varieties in that the leaves are much thicker.

Does well in lower or higher lighting conditions which makes it ideal for most rooms in your home. The green emerald ficus tree is an easy tree to grow indoors with very little maintenance.

The flowing tree branches is called a cascade style. The ficus pictured here is 22 years old, and measures 19″ x 13″ x 16″. The tree is potted in a 9 x 6 inch terra cotta color hexagon pot.

This green island ficus bonsai tree would look good a living room or breakfast seating area as an ornamental tree.

Fukien Tea Tree

This bonsai tree is native to the Fujan province of China. It produces small white flowers that can bloom at any time. The foliage is dark green and rather small in size.

The flowers turn into red berries and then turn darker with age. The fukien tea tree is trained in a traditional curved trunk style.  This flowering bonsai tea tree loves the heat and does well indoors. Just be careful it is not situated near an air conditioning vent. The tea tree pictured here is 9 years old and approximately 10″-12″ tall. The classification is an  indoor flowering bonsai, grown and trained by Bonsai Boy, they also recommend that you purchase a humidity drip tray.
