Ficus bonsai tree
This miniature tree is also called a green island ficus. The leaves are quite unique in that they are oval to roundish and a shiny dark green. This is where it gets the emerald name of the plant. This ficus tree forms rosettes at the end of it’s branches if kept trimmed.
If does grow branches and fruit well and easily develops aerial roots when kept humid, which makes a striking affect. It is different than other ficus varieties in that the leaves are much thicker.
Does well in lower or higher lighting conditions which makes it ideal for most rooms in your home. The green emerald ficus tree is an easy tree to grow indoors with very little maintenance.
The flowing tree branches is called a cascade style. The ficus pictured here is 22 years old, and measures 19″ x 13″ x 16″. The tree is potted in a 9 x 6 inch terra cotta color hexagon pot.
