Florida and Louisiana, particularly the swampy areas are home most bald cypress trees, but not the ones you want to buy. In fact it is the designated tree of the state of Louisiana. The bark is fibrous and has a reddish-brown color with small flat ridges and shallow furrows. The leaves of the Cypress tree are deciduous and spread flat in a feathery pattern on its branches.
