Bonsai Tree Plants for Beginners

If you live in an apartment and don’t have a sun deck or small patio an outdoor bonsai tree is out of the question. But you can still successfully grow and indoor bonsai plant and enjoy this hobby as a novice or beginner.

Bonsai plants that are grown indoors are ideal to give as a gift or for starting your bonsai collection if you are beginner. There are a couple of favorites that come to mind the, flowering peace lily bonsai, dracaena bonsai and the Sansevieria plant.

The Sansevieria also referred to as mother-in-law’s tongue is a flowering plant that is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is a plant with strap-shaped leaves forming clumps from a spreading rhizome. The foliage is dark green with variegation and does very well in moderate and lower lighting conditions as well as direct sun.

The Peace Lily is a member of the Philodendron family and is a species of rhizomatous herbs native to South America. The spathiphyllum has glossy green leaves produced from many branched rhizome. Flowers, which can be produced in any season, are white with a finger-like knobs extending from the base. With this plant if it does not flower its usually because of low light.

The dracena Marginata plant is native to Madagascar and commonly called the Madagascar Dragon Tree. The Marginata has a slender trunk and a near vertical to horizontal mass of narrow pointed green leaves with red to purple stripes along the outer edge.
