Bonsai pots for proper growth and that will look goodBonsai pots are very decorative and add to the whole look of the plant or tree. Before purchasing familiarize yourself with the possibilities. This is important for when you are growing bonsai trees on your patio. I like to buy the Chinese pottery because it blends in well with my patio decorations and there is a wider selection in shapes. Japanese pottery and mica pots are just as nice and may suit your needs better. It all depends on your surrounding furnishings and decor. Many people buy their bonsai pots by how they will look or display as a finished specimen. There are only two shapes oval or rectangular and two types glazed or unglazed. The difference comes down to personal preference. Buy a pot for your tree or plant
General points to keep in mind:Because outdoor bonsai trees are kept out of the weather and high winds they are grown on a sundeck or patio. You will want a nice looking pot to show these off. Also keep in mind the color of your tree and try to match the pot color with the trunk or bark color or if its a flowering bonsai tree, with the color of the leaves. As the foundation for your tree, you will note that bonsai pots also secure the plant as well as aid in helping provide a healthy growing environment so your bonsai can thrive. You need bonsai containers with drainage holes. You can plant in a drainless container, but plant care is much more difficult. Choose the size of the pot with the size of the tree. You will need the pot to allow for maximum growth and to make sure the soil has some room to breathe. Sample selections Here are three styles of rectangular bonsai pots. There are many more I just wanted to show the main difference. For glazed an unglazed ceramic pots just think of them as one is shiny and the other is not.
